It is a fictional film, but is loosely based on the work of Olive Dame Campbell, founder of the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC, and that of the English folk song collector Cecil Sharp. Written and directed by Maggie Greenwald. Produced by Richard Miller. The soundtrack was written by David Mansfield and a roster of female country music artists perform, including Emmylou Harris, Iris DeMent and Hazel Dickens.
